IPL's most popular franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has retained the first five players of IPL 2025 auctions. These five players include Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Matheesha Pathirana, Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni. CSK franchise has spent a total of Rs 65 crore on all these five players. They have 120 crore purse balance left in IPL 2025 auction. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has retained only Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal ahead of IPL 2025 auction, they still have a purse balance of INR 83 crore left. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians have retained Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma for Rs 75 crore. Mumbai has only 45 crore left in purse balance.

32-year-old Deepak Chahar joined the CSK camp in 2018, was retained by the CSK franchise for Rs 14 crore in IPL 2024 but was released by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 auction this year. In IPL 2024, he took just five wickets at an average of 40.40 and a strike rate of 28.20 and an economy rate of 8.60.
Along with experience, Deepak Chahar also has the art of swinging the ball in and out in the powerplay and also the art of slow bowling in the death overs.
