IPL 2025: In what proves to be a massive development, Indian Cricket's Cricket Governing Body, the BCCI formally declared that Jeddah of Saudi Arabia, will be playing host to the 2025 IPL Mega-Auction
The mega-event of the cash rich T20 league which is going to take place across a span of two days, 24th and 25th of November, was initially scheduled to be hosted in Riyadh before the BCCI made a last-minute change in the venue due to facing logistical-difficulties.
A total of 1,574 players will be a part of the 2025 Mega-Auction, including 409 overseas players, 1,224 uncapped players, 320 capped players and 30 associate nations players. All of the 10 participating franchises will be allowed to have a maximum of 25 players in their squad with 120 Crore Indian Rupees being set as the purse-limit for the auction. A total of 204 players spots will be up for grabs as the franchises have filled some slots with their retained players.
It's worth noting that the BCCI had previously shortlisted the city of Riyadh as the final-venue for the Mega-Auction. However, according to a Sportstar news report, Jeddah was then selected to host the Mega-Auction at the last-minute due to facing logistical-difficulties. Jeddah's Abadi-Al-Johar Arena will be hosting the mega event.
Additionally, the 2025 Mega-Auction is slated to clash with the first Test-match in Perth between India & Australia, with Disney Plus Hotstar acting as the common streaming platform for both the events. Luckily for Indian fans, the time difference between both the both plays a major role and since the Perth Test-match will get over by 11:00 AM IST, the Mega-Auction can take place smoothly in the afternoon.
All of the Cricket fans and enthusiasts across the globe will be keeping their eyes on the 24th and 25th of November as several high-profile Cricket players, including Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant will be going under the hammer. An intense and nail-biting bidding-war is anticipated to take place between the 10 IPL franchises with Right-To-Match cards adding extra drama to the auction.
