IPL 2022 Mega Auction: Though the Vivo IPL 2021 ended on 14th October with CSK emerging as the triumphant, the talks among the netizens haven?t taken a back seat yet. With the introduction of two new franchises, the mega auctions for 2022 IPL are inevitable and the retention of players is something that has become a talking point lately amongst cricket experts and fans.
The franchises that experienced a golden run in the IPL 2021 would want to retain their performing assets and will be in a fix whether they would be able to get their premium players services or not.?
Forcing a break to all the discussions happening day in and out, Cricbuzz recently reported that in the recent exchange of talks between the BCCI and franchise owners came to a conclusion that the teams will be able to retain a maximum of four players ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions.

A franchise can retain services of three Indian cricketers and two overseas players with the overall count of the retention should not exceed four.
It was also reported that the retention rules will be pushed once BCCI confirms the sale of the two new franchises on 25th October in Dubai.
The BCCI is likely to form an equal ground of competition for the two incoming franchises as they are likely to be given liberty to pick three to four players outside the Mega Auction table and the rules for which will be confirmed after 25th October.
The reports further suggest that there may be a complete scrap of the use of Right To Match (RTM) card given that there are four retentions for each franchise.
