IPL Points Table 2024: What an easy two points Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have got at such a crucial time of the tournament against Dlehi Capitals. Shreyas Iyer-led KKR registered a convincing seven-wicket win over Rishabh Pant's Delhi Capitals at the Eden Gardens in match number 47 of the TATA IPL 2024. Here we will talk about the IPL Points Table (Updated) after the KKR vs DC fixture.
KKR vs DC Match Highlights
Delhi Capitals (DC) felt they were nowhere in the game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens. Despite batting their full quota of 20 overs, the Capitals could only score a meagre 153 runs in a wicket that has produced some of the biggest scores in IPL 2024.
Credit where it's due - the KKR bowlers were just outstanding to outplay the opposition in the first half of the game itself. Spinner Varun Chakravarthy scalped three wickets in the game, and two apiece were registered by Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana. Meanwhile, Mitchell Starc and Sunil Narine got one each in their kitty as well.
Prithvi Shaw's return to the playing11 didn't produce any fruitful results as the batter was removed cheaply at a score of 7 runs. The contest also couldn't get a glimpse of dangerman Jake Fraser-McGurk.
Skipper Rishabh Pant also couldn't get going in the wicket and neither did Axar Patel. The best score of the innings came off Kuldeep Yadav's blade, who scored an unbeaten 35 runs in 26 deliveries.
After playing out 20 overs, DC could only score 153 runs in the loss of nine wickets.
The second innings, though, saw more fluent and flamboyant batting. Opener Philip Salt planned the course of the innings with his sensational 33-ball 68-run knock. It wouldn't be wrong to say that Salt's innings set the tone and from thereon win just became a formality.
KKR added 79 runs for the first wicket, with Salt doing the majority of the work. Sunil Narine played the second fiddle but was removed at a score of 15 runs right after the end of the powerplay by Axar Patel.
The spinner then went on to pick the wicket of Phil Salt in his very next over. Lizaad Williams got rid of Rinku Singh in the 10th over of the innings.
But as said, these wickets didn't put any pressure on KKR, who just required a meagre effort to go over the rope. Skipper Shreyas Iyer (33* runs) and Venkatesh Iyer (26* runs) stitched a fine partnership of 57 runs to take their side home in just 16.3 overs.
