Jay Shah gives a befitting reply to Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer over India's head coach role

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah gave a thrashing reply to Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer over India's head coach role. The two greats of Australian cricket stated that they were approached by the BCCI for the coaching role.?

The BCCI is on the hunt for the head coach of Team India. Rahul Dravid reportedly is all set to leave the duties after the T20 World Cup 2024. His tenure as a coach will be ending and he won?t be reapplying for the post as per the various reports. 

Since then there have been a lot of talks about the Indian head coach role. Recently Ricky Ponting while talking to media stated that he was approached by the BCCI for the head coach role and he didn?t accept the offer due to family commitments. 

Justin Langer on the other hand also stated that he was approached by the BCCI but didn?t accept the role because the Lucknow Super Giants skipper told him that there?s a lot of politics around the head coach position of the team.?

Amid the saga, Jay Shah stated that neither he nor BCCI approached any of the former Australian cricket for a head coach. He rubbished off all reports and while speaking to the media, he explained: 

"Neither I nor the BCCI have approached any former Australian cricketer with a coaching offer. The reports circulating in certain media sections are completely incorrect.?

It?s crucial that our coach has an in-depth knowledge of our domestic cricket - Jay Shah

Jay Shah also talked about the criteria for the new head coach of the Team India. He stated that they want a coach who has a deep understanding of Indian cricket along with the domestic circuit. He added:?

"Finding the right coach for our national team is a meticulous and thorough process. We are focused on identifying individuals who possess a deep understanding of the Indian cricket structure and have risen through the ranks. 

?It?s crucial that our coach has an in-depth knowledge of our domestic cricket framework to truly elevate Team India to the next level.?

The last day to submit the application for the head coach of the Team India is 27th May. It remains to be seen who will be taking the role.
