In a significant development within the cricketing world, there's noteworthy news that Jay Shah, currently serving as the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and concurrently holding the position of President at the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), might consider running for the ICC Chairman position later in the year. Should he decide to enter the race, speculation suggests that he stands as a strong contender for victory in the upcoming election at the international cricket governing body.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Asian Cricket Council is all set to be held on the 30th of January and the 31st of January in Bali, Indonesia. While the main motive of the meeting is to have a discussion regarding the broadcasting rights of the 2025 Asia Cup, according to Cricbuzz's report, there is an unofficial agenda for the meeting, which may involve discussions regarding Jay Shah's role as the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the likelihood of his involvement in the ICC Chairman election scheduled to take place in November this year.

The position of Asian Cricket Council President is a rotating one that rotates among the full members of the ACC every two years. Shah is the current ACC President, and he is in his second two-year term, but he could decide to resign from that post in order to compete for the election of the ICC Chairman.

Jay Shah is considered the most powerful man in the world of cricket. He is the son of India's Minister of Home Affairs, Amit Shah, and at the age of 31, his son Jay became the secretary of BCCI in 2019.

Jay Shah started his cricket journey in 2009 as the executive board member of the Central Board of Cricket, Ahmedabad. He was then selected as the joint secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association in 2013.

Shah entered the BCCI as a member of the marketing and finance committees in 2015, and then in 2019, he was elected as the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The 35-year-old was appointed as the President of the Asian Cricket Council in 2021.
