Jofra Archer undergoes hand surgery to remove the glass particle.
English pacer Jofra Archer finally on Monday went for hand surgery after a glass particle was struck in his hand while cleaning the fish tank in his home in England. The English director of cricket Ashley Giles confirmed the development recently.
England Cricket medical team managed the injury sustained by Jofra Archer back in January. However, the management felt that he needs to go through surgery as he was not feeling well bowling with the injured arm. It was seen that the pacer was given multiple rests during the England tour to India to manage the injury nicely.
He took part in two out of four Test games against India and all the five T20I games in Ahmedabad. For the One Day Internationals, the pacer was rested.
?He?s got a fish tank, dropped the fish tank and cut his hand,? Giles told BBC Radio 5 Live.
?This is going to sound like an awful conspiracy and I know what?s going to happen on Twitter straight away when I say this. But it?s true, it?s not a conspiracy, it was a fish tank. He was cleaning at home.
Giles said that the surgeons have found a small glass fragment in the tendon.
?He?s been in surgery today and he?s come out of it well. They?ve operated and actually I think they found a small fragment of glass still in the tendon.?
Initially, it was expected that the pacer would make his return after missing a couple of opening games of IPL, however, according to the sources, later it was confirmed that Archer will miss the elite competition this year.
There is no actual clarity on the issue. It will be a huge blow for Rajasthan Royals if Archer misses out on the entire run.?
