Karun Nair leaks information about how he was asked to retire by one of the big Indian cricketers

Indian cricketer Karun Nair made a shocking statement ahead of his comeback in the Test series against England. He revealed that one of the big names in Indian cricket told him to retire and earn money from leagues.

Karun Nair will be making his comeback into the Indian team after a long gap of eight years. The batter last played for India in 2017, and what was shocking was he was dropped a few innings after scoring a triple-century in the longest format of the game.

Karun Nair is expected to be part of the Indian XI for the first test against England. With no Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the team now, he will be amongst the senior batters in the team and would want to lock his place in the team.

I still remember a prominent Indian cricketer calling me and saying you need to retire because the money in these leagues - Karun Nair

With Tests around the corner, Karun Nair made a shocking statement, saying that he was asked to retire because of his not getting a place on the team. Speaking about the same, he said:

"I still remember a prominent Indian cricketer calling me and saying you need to retire because the money in these leagues would make me secure,” Nair told in an interview with the Daily Mail. “It would have been easy to do, but I knew that regardless of the money, I would be kicking myself for giving up that easily,”

Karun Nair added that he never thought about giving up on playing for India. He added:

"I was never going to give up on playing for India again. That was just over two years ago and look where we are now,” he insists. “It’s crazy but deep down, I knew I was good enough."

The first test against between India and England will be played at the Headingley in Leeds from 20th June.
