Vivo IPL 2021: KKR?s Pat Cummins donates USD 50,000 to PM Cares Fund to deal with the Oxygen shortage.
Vivo IPL 2021: Australian and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer Pat Cummins on Monday donated USD 50,000 to the PM Cares Fund to fight the battle against Covid-19 in India. Cummins donated the sum for the oxygen supplies in India in the Covid-19 ravaged hospitals.
The cricketer announced his kind act through twitter handle as India is fighting hard from the second wave of dreaded Covid-19 virus.
More than 3 Lakhs covid-positive cases are being recorded in the country as the second wave hit. This is the highest covid tally for any country since the beginning of the pandemic last year.
?There has been a lot of discussion over here as to whether it is appropriate for the IPL to continue while COVID-19 infection rates remain high.
?I am advised that Indian government is of the view that playing the IPL while the population is in lockdown provides few hours of joy and respite each day at an otherwise difficult time for the country,? Cummins said in his statement.
Earlier, a couple of Australians flew back home citing personal reasons while later they revealed that the covid-19 cases in India have forced them to take the step and fly back home.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) Andrew Tye, Liam Livingstone and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson have pulled back from the ongoing season of Indian Premier League (IPL).
As of now, all the IPL franchises have completed five games each and will move to the other two venues. All the teams will be playing their further games in Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad and Delhi?s Arun Jaitley Stadium after completing the fixtures of Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai and MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
