KL Rahul reveals why he left PBKS and joined Lucknow in the IPL 2022: Kannur Lokesh Rahul in his recent interaction with Red Bull opened up on why he left his previous IPL franchise and joined the new team (Lucknow Super Giants). The stupendous batter knew the challenges he would face while leading the fresh IPL team and pinned it one of the reasons why he left the Punjab Kings (PBKS).

He also said that he wanted to build a team from scratch and that process excited him a lot, which forms another reason why he turned down Punjab Kings (PBKS) retention offer and prompted him to join Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as the skipper.

KL Rahul was the face of Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the last two seasons of the Indian Premier League. The opener batter was in sublime touch with his bat in hand, but couldn?t bring out the best performance from his teammates as a leader. Ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, Rahul opted out of Punjab Kings and was subsequently drafted in by the Lucknow Super Giants for INR 17 Crores.

The Indian batter opened up that he got the opportunity to sit in the team discussions with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and has learnt a lot in the little time he has spent with the franchise until now. He was involved in the team building ahead of the mega auctions which is a very new role for him.

?I mean whatever little time that I have gotten with Lucknow Super Giants obviously has been a very new experience for me because I have never sat in meetings where we are discussing about each and every player about how we want to set up the franchise and what we need to , you know, what our core needs to be, you know there is so much happening including the auction, before the auction, the retention part, you know there?s so much that has happened and all that was very new to me,? Rahul said on Red Bull cricket room on Clubhouse.

The right-handed batter added that team building, though, throws different challenges, but is really a fun experience. He further explained that this preliminary process of constructing a team from scratch would help him grow as a person and as a cricketer as well.

?It was such a fun experience and I?m so glad to get this opportunity to be, you know, be part of a new team, be part of a new franchise and build it from scratch, and that?s what really excited me and that?s why I made the movement to a new team,? he said.

?I wanted to be a part of something like this and learn along the way, and this is something that would be good for me in my journey and it?ll help me grow as a person and grow as a cricketer as well. So yes, it?s exciting and I am really looking ahead and looking forward to what?s in store for all of us,? he added.

KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will face Hardik Pandya and his Gujarat Titans (GT) troops in their first match in the Wankhede Stadium on March 28th.
