IPL Points Table 2024: KL Rahul-spearheaded Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) makes forward moves in the TATA IPL Points Table 2024 after they defeated Shubman Gill's Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium by 33 runs. LSG bundled out Gujarat at the 130-run mark after posting a 163-run total in the first innings.
Lucknow's 163-run total looked under-par score at the halfway stage, but their bowlers pulled things back in control midway through the innings.
Gujarat got off to a decent start with Sai Sudharsan and skipper Shubman Gill amassing quick runs during the field restriction. They managed to score 54 runs in the first six overs, and the target ahead looked a cakewalk for them.
However, Shubman Gill's breakthrough opened the gates for LSG's comeback. The Lucknow bowlers were quick to pounce on the opportunity and put pressure back on the opposition.
Despite the quick start, Gujarat kept losing wickets in regular intervals to the extent that they couldn't even play out the entire 20 overs of the play.
The LSG bowlers didn't let the batters settle in the middle and kept picking up wickets consistently. Krunal Pandya scalped three wickets, while Yash Thakur returned with a five-for.
Before getting bowled out, the Gujarat Titans (GT) could only manage 130 runs in response to LSG's 163.
Earlier in the innings, Lucknow put up 163 runs on the board in 20 overs. Skipper KL Rahul contributed with almost run-a-ball 33 runs while all-rounder Marcus Stoinis played a match-winning 58-run knock in 43 deliveries.
Besides, Nicholas Pooran remained unbeaten at 32 runs in 22 deliveries. His handy knock included three sixes. While Ayush Badoni contributed 20 runs to the total in 11 deliveries towards the end.
Owing to the win, Lucknow has made significant progress in the updated IPL points table. The details of the rankings are provided below:
