Pakistan have suffered a massive blow ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Young opener Saim Ayub is all set to be ruled out of the tournament with an ankle injury. The batted faced the injury during the second Test of the series against South Africa.

Saim Ayub twisted his ankle while fielding and then was taken for scans immediately after he failed to stand on his feet. The batter was ruled out of the match and then was sent to London by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to see a specialist doctor.

The doctor provided an update that Saim Ayub had fractured his ankle. Not only this but he also advised the opening batter to take rest for 6 months to regain his full fitness. The batter will be further scans before returning home.

With a specialist doctor advising Saim Ayub to rest for 6 months, this automatically rules out the batter of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament is all set to kick start on 19th February; it is expected that the batter won't get fit by the time the tournament starts.

Saim Ayub's absence will leave a massive void in the team for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

This comes as a massive blow for Pakistan as Saim Ayub has been the best batter for the team of late. The young batter has proved his prowess for the team in all three formats for the game and with the kind of form that he was in, his absence will leave a massive void in the team.

Saim Ayub was at his exceptional best during the ODI series against South Africa in the three-match series. The opening batter slammed two centuries in the series and was adjudged the Player of the Series for his heroics with the bat in the series.

Although the Pakistan Cricket Board hasn't made any official confirmation, it is learned that they will be making a decision after further medical reviews and assessments. But with the way things have going, it's fair to say that he will be against time to be fit for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
