MI vs DC WPL Final: Strongest playing 11's of Mumbai Indians & Delhi Capitals for the Final
MI vs DC WPL Final: The third edition of the Women's Premier League has reached its peak. The title match will be played between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians on Saturday. In the match to be played at the Brabourne Stadium, Delhi will aim to end its title drought while Mumbai will be eyeing to lift the trophy for the second time.
The team led by Harmanpreet Kaur was the winner in the first season of WPL. It won the title by defeating Delhi. Now once again both the teams will face each other.
MI will start as a strong contender for victory against DC, committed to end the title drought in the Women's Premier League, on the back of the strong all-round play of the duo of Nat Sciver-Brunt and Hayley Matthews. Sciver-Brunt (493 runs, nine wickets) and Matthews (17 wickets and 304 runs) currently top the batting and bowling tables respectively.
If both of them continue their excellent performance, then it will not be easy for the Meg Lanning-led Delhi team to become champions for the first time.
Delhi entered the final by topping the table.
Meg Lanning, who has retired from international cricket, is one of the most successful captains of women's cricket. She and her team will leave no stone unturned to win the first WPL title. Delhi's men's team has also failed to win the IPL so far. Delhi's team directly entered the final on the basis of better net run rate while Mumbai's team made it to the title match by defeating Gujarat Giants in the eliminator.
Mumbai would like to take advantage of home conditions.
Mumbai's team is well aware of the conditions of Brabourne Stadium and will try to take advantage of it. Mumbai's batting is very strong and Delhi's bowlers will have to give their best to overcome them. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur's return to form is also a good sign for Mumbai.
These Delhi bowlers have the potential to cause Mumbai a lot of trouble
As of right now, Delhi's spinner Jess Jonassen and India's seasoned fast bowler Shikha Pandey have both done well. They have each claimed 11–11 wickets. In their previous match versus the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team, Delhi held the inaugural champions to a score of 123 runs for nine wickets thanks to the outstanding performances of Jonassen and Shikha. The batters of MI will have to exercise caution versus these two bowlers.
The Mumbai players were impressive
Nat Sciver-Brunt and Hayley Mathews have bowled effectively so far, but Mumbai's attack is led by all-rounder Amelia Kerr, who has 16 wickets. In good batting conditions, this leg spinner will play a key role. Off-spinner Sanskriti Gupta has also done well for Mumbai thus far. Even though she has only taken four wickets thus far, her economy rate is less than seven.
Delhi is also not behind.
For Delhi, Shafali Verma's (300 runs) batting in the power play will be important. Apart from her, Lanning has also batted well for Delhi. She has scored 263 runs so far. Young batsman Nikki Prasad has also performed well when given the opportunity.
The probable playing 11 of both the teams for the Final:
Mumbai Indians: Hayley Matthews, Amelia Kerr, Nat Siver-Brunt, Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Amanjot Kaur, Yastika Bhatia (WK), Sajeevan Sajna, G Kamalini, Sanskriti Gupta, Shabnim Ismail and Saika Ishaque.
Delhi Capitals: Meg Lanning (captain), Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Annabel Sutherland, Marizanne Kapp, Jess Jonassen, Sarah Bryce (WK), Nikki Prasad, Minnu Mani, Shikha Pandey and Titas Sadhu.
