MI vs SRH Highlights: Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by four wickets, register their third win

Mumbai Indians (MI) reignited their IPL 2025 campaign with a strong win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede. After SRH posted a competitive total—boosted by Abhishek Sharma, Heinrich Klaasen, and Aniket Verma—MI chased it down efficiently. Rohit Sharma provided a quick start, while Will Jacks (36) and Ryan Rickelton steadied the innings. Suryakumar Yadav accelerated, and Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma finished the job, despite a late stumble that slightly hurt their Net Run Rate. SRH's bowlers, except Mitchell Santner and Deepak Chahar, struggled, and tactical errors—like underusing Rahul Chahar as Impact Sub—cost them. With just two wins in seven games, SRH's playoff hopes are fading, while MI's back-to-back wins keep them in contention.

MI vs SRH Highlights: Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by four wickets, register their third win

Mumbai Indians (MI) win back-to-back matches and Normal service persists at the Wankhede as the Men in Blue & Gold get their IPL 2025 campaign back on track. Mumbai delivered an outstanding overall performance, keeping the dangerous Sunrisers Hyderabad at bay throughout the game. With only two wins in seven games, the visitors' playoff hopes are dangling by a thread.

The MI openers, particularly Rohit Sharma, who appeared to be in great form, started to settle into a rhythm after a quiet start in the opening few overs. He started off fast but just when he looked set, he was thrown completely. After that, Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton took charge, bringing the innings under control and ensuring the pursuit continued on its intended course. Following Rickelton's exit, SKY gave the innings a boost of momentum. After Jacks contributed a vital 36 before leaving, Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma delivered a couple of lustful knocks that brought them within striking distance.

MI lost two wickets and five balls, though when the scores were level and their Net Run Rate (NRR) suffered as a result. They will be hoping that this does not come back to bother them in the forthcoming games.

On a difficult surface earlier in the game, Sunrisers Hyderabad was able to put up a respectable score. Abhishek Sharma got off to a quick start but his opening partner Travis Head struggled to get going. The duo of Aniket Verma & Heinrich Klaasen made useful contributions down the order, which helped bring the total down to a level their bowlers could manage. With the exception of Mitchell Santner and Deepak Chahar, who each took one wicket, the rest of the bowling team contributed, with Will Jacks being the most impressive with the ball, taking a few.

To be fair, Sunrisers Hyderabad consistently struggled to score runs on a demanding pitch, but it was still another dismal performance. They needed two or three wickets in the Powerplay to have a chance, even though their bowlers gave it their all. It wasn't helped by an early dropped catch by Ishan Kishan off Ryan Rickelton. They believed they had him soon after, which only made them more irate, but Klaasen's gloves were in front of the stumps, therefore it was a No-Ball. In the end, those small moments had a significant impact.

Supporters were also taken aback by the choice to use Rahul Chahar as the Impact Sub and only give him one over. With three wickets under his belt, captain Pat Cummins took the lead, and Eshan Malinga added a pair, but the game was already lost.
