Mitchell Starc Planning an IPL Return in IPL 2024: Mitchell Starc, an Australian veteran fast bowler, wants to return to the IPL next winter, calling it a "perfect opportunity" to prepare for the T20 World Cup. For the first time in a decade, he has disclosed that he plans to run for the Indian Premier League.
If signed by a franchise, Starc would play in the tournament for the first time since 2015; for Royal Challengers Bangalore, he has played in 27 games over the course of two seasons. He also contributed significantly to Australia's victory in the World Cup that year, and he then went on two tours to the West Indies and England for the Ashes series.
To attain the desired 100-game milestone, Starc says he intends to continue playing Test cricket for at least another two years. However, a "somewhat quiet" winter schedule in 2024 will open him up to participate in the IPL for a third time.
He was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018 but withdrew due to injury. In other instances, he thought about returning but decided to prioritize time at home in the midst of a busy multi-format schedule for Australia.
However, Australia's calendar for the following year is relatively light, with just the T20 World Cup set to take place between a tour of New Zealand in March and a white-ball series against Afghanistan, Ireland, and England starting in late August.
Mitchell Starc had some eyecatching stats in IPL in his brief career till now. He has taken 41 wickets at an average of 20.46 and an economy rate of 7.81.

Talking to The Willow Talk Podcast, he said, "Look it?s been eight years. I?m definitely going back in [next] year.? ?Amongst other things, it?s a great lead-up to the T20 World Cup."
?So a good opportunity to see if anyone?s interested in the IPL, then lead into the T20 World Cup. And it?s somewhat of a quiet winter next year ? in comparison to this winter, so I think a perfect opportunity to put my name in,? he added.
Mitchell Starc quoted he eyes to play 100 tests for his country. "Not just get to 100, I'd like to be good enough to be picked for 100 Tests. And then the big one obviously in a couple of weeks is the World Cup, which in India just goes to another level," he said.
Mitchell Starc also quoted that he just has plans for this year World Cup and doesn't think for the further editions by now. "And then you look at the one-day format, it's sort of four years in between World Cups, so where do I see myself in that mix? But I've got to get to the end of this World Cup first. But we've got some superstars coming through. You've got your Jhye Richardsons, your Sean Abbotts, your Spencer Johnsons. You've got plenty of young guys coming through. [Lance] Morris is going to be a gun."
"I try not to look too far ahead with anything. Obviously, we want to do well in the World Cup. Then we've got five Test matches here in Australia and then I haven't actually played a Test in New Zealand, so hopefully I'm on that tour and look forward to that challenge as well."
