T20 World Cup 2021: Former Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni has decided not to take any honorarium for his services to the Indian team in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021, scheduled to begin on 17th October in UAE and Oman.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Tuesday revealed that Dhoni will not charge any payment for his service of mentorship to the Indian team, he said: ?MS Dhoni is not charging any honorarium for his services as the mentor of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup."

The celebrated finisher was declared to be the mentor of the Indian team during the announcement of a 15-men Indian contingent for the T20 World Cup by the BCCI secretary.

It is noteworthy that Dhoni has won three ICC titles during his stay at the Indian team as a skipper. The swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batsman won the inaugural season of the T20 World Cup in 2007. He further lifted the coveted ICC ODI World Cup title in 2011 following which the Indian team won Champions Trophy in 2013.

Jay Shah informed that the decision to bring MS Dhoni to the Indian team as a mentor was taken after consulting Virat Kohli (skipper), Rohit Sharma (vice-captain) and Ravi Shastri (head coach). He approached the CSK skipper while he was on his visit to Dubai for the regulation check of the IPL arrangements.
