Mumbai Indians (MI) complete Squad in IPL 2022 - Prediction: The five times Indian Premier League (IPL) crown winner, Mumbai Indians (MI), had a forgettable outing in the recently held IPL 2021 in the UAE. The franchise failed to secure its place in the playoff due to inconsistent performance throughout the tournament. Despite a roller-coaster season, last year, Mumbai would be hoping to make a commendable comeback in the upcoming edition.
Mumbai Indians (MI) is a highly balanced franchise that believes in making a strong Indian core and forming the rest of the squad around them. The franchise outclasses every other franchise during the auction and looks to bid for performing assets, regardless of their international stature.
MI had a solid blend of experience and young talent in the squad in the IPL 2021. The mix has always fetched results for the team in the past and as per the experts, Mumbai would stick to its winning strategies once again in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
Ahead of the Tata IPL 2022 Mega Auction, Mumbai retained their captain Rohit Sharma for INR 16 Crores, ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah for INR 12 Crores, batsman Suryakumar Yadav for INR 8 Crores and all-rounder Kieron Pollard for INR 6 Crores.
After deducting the salary of the retained players, Mumbai Indians (MI) is left with INR 48 Crores to build the squad that will help them get more IPL titles in the coming years.
It must be noted that Mumbai Indians were the worst affected by the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The franchise had to release their premier players to the auction table.
In this article, we will take a look at Mumbai Indians (MI) complete squad for IPL 2022. This is only a prediction suggested by experts.
Mumbai Indians (MI) complete Squad in IPL 2022 - Prediction:
Batsman - Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Dawid Malan, and Aiden Markram
The 2020 IPL champions, Mumbai Indians, would target the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Dawid Malan and Aiden Markram as their top batsman in the upcoming IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
Southpaw Sikhar Dhawan needs no introduction in the IPL. He has been one of the highly-rated batsmen in the recent past. Dhawan, playing for Delhi Capitals, improved his batting technique and performed skillfully in the last three seasons. He amassed 587 runs in the last IPL edition and was the fourth-highest run-getter.?
Ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, reports claimed that Mumbai Indians are keen on getting the services of Shreyas Iyer at the middle order. If the reports are to be believed, Iyer can return to his home team and perform there. The batsman scored 175 runs in eight matches in the IPL 2021 at an average of 35.
Talking about the overseas signing of Mumbai Indians, England?s Dawid Malan and South Africa?s Aiden Markram are the two most probable candidates. Malan hasn?t got the opportunity to showcase his skills in the IPL, but to prove his prowess, he is one of the top-ranked T20I batters at present. He featured for Punjab Kings in the IPL 2021, but couldn?t get enough game time to show his batting skills.
South Africa?s Aiden Markram is the other strong option for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the middle order. Markram was roped in by PBKS in the IPL 2021, where he scored 146 runs in 6 matches. The cricketer was a solid force for his franchise at the middle order and often he saved PBKS from a sharp debacle.
Bowlers - Trent Boult, Lokie Ferguson, Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar, Harshal Patel and T Natarajan
Kiwi pacer, Trent Boult, enjoyed his productive time in Mumbai Indians (MI) in the last two IPL seasons. Boult not only featured in every MI game, but he also solved Mumbai?s weakness of not getting wickets in the powerplays. Due to the cap on the maximum number of retained players, Mumbai let go Boult to the auction table, however, the franchise would bid heavily to acquire his services once again.
Mumbai should also bid for Boult?s New Zealand compatriot Lokie Ferguson in the mega auction. Ferguson was in great shape for KKR in the IPL 2021. The speedster picked 13 wickets from eight matches for KKR at an impressive economy of 7.46. MI can use him as a backup option if injuries occur to any other pacer.
Seasoned leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will also be on Mumbai?s radar along with Rahul Chahar as far as spinners are concerned. While Chahal has been in the phenomenal run since his comeback in the IPL 2021, Rahul Chahar was the one who solved Mumbai?s spin bowling problem since his arrival in the team. Mumbai is likely to bid for one of them in the mega auction.
Talking about the domestic seam options, T Natarajan and Harshal Patel come as a quality options. While Natarajan was ruled out of the IPL 2021, Patel experienced a breakthrough IPL season in 2021.?
Patel won the purple cap award for picking the most wickets in the tournament and equalled the record of Dwayne Bravo, of most wickets in a single IPL season.

All-rounders - Krunal Pandya, Shardul Thakur, Nathan Coulter Nile and Marnus Labuschagne
Mumbai Indians have largely leaned on their all-rounder over these years. The likes of Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya did their job fantastically in the previous editions, however, this time every one of them is separated. While Mumbai has retained Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya has been bagged by Ahmedabad and Krunal Pandya will head to the auction table.
Mumbai will look to secure a few quality all-rounders in the side. Krunal Pandya will once again be their top choice. Moving on, Shardul Thakur has proved his worth in gold, lately and will be one player who will bag a 10 Crore plus package in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
The other two all-rounder options will be Nathan Coulter Nile and Marnus Labuschagne. The former was with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2021 where he picked 7 wickets from five matches, however, his performance with the bat remained severely panicking.
Labuschagne, on the other hand, is another option to go with, however, he isn?t a tried and tested option. The Aussie cricketer, if gets a contract, will feature in his maiden IPL season in 2022.
Wicketkeepers - Ishan Kishan, Quinton de Kock and Devon Conway
Mumbai Indians (MI) top priority would be to retain young wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The franchise would profoundly bid for the youngster. Kishan denied an IPL contract from Ahmedabad worth INR 7 Crores, only to go with Mumbai Indians (MI) once again, says the reports.
South African Quinton de Kock would be another player to get a good IPL contract in the mega auction. Mumbai used de Kock?s services in the last two seasons and the southpaw plundered crucial runs for the team. The franchise would be looking to get de Kock once again in the squad.
New Zealand?s Devon Conway would be Mumbai?s backup wicketkeeping option. The talismanic batsman has been in a fantastic run in the recent past, ever since he made his international debut and there is no break to his merciless batting.
Mumbai Indians (MI) complete Squad in IPL 2022 - Prediction:
Batsman - Rohit Sharma ?, Suryakumar Yadav, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Dawid Malan, and Aiden Markram.
Bowlers - Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Lokie Ferguson, Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar, Harshal Patel and T Natarajan.
