Nat Sciver-Brunt's heroics with both bat and ball help Mumbai defeat the UP Warriorz, MI register their third consecutive win

The inaugural champions of the Tata Women's Premier League (WPL) Mumbai Indians (MI) successfully defeated the UP Warriors by 8 wickets in the 11th match of WPL 2025. Nat Sciver Brunt played an unbeaten and brilliant half-century innings of 75 runs in batting, along with this, she also gave 3 blows to UP with her bowling. The team of UP team scored 142 runs while batting first in this match, which the Mumbai Indians chased down with 18 balls remaining. Brunt scored 75 and opener Hayley Matthews scored 59 runs for Mumbai. Captain Deepti Sharma was the only bowler to take a wicket for UP.

In this match, UP Warriorz were seen struggling from the beginning. Apart from Grace Harris (45 runs) and Vrinda Dinesh (33 runs), no other player was able to play a big inning for the team. The situation was such that 7 out of 11 batsmen of the Warriorz could not even touch the double digit mark. In the previous match, UP had defeated RCB in a match that went till the super-over.

The foundation of Mumbai Indians' victory was laid by Nat Sciver Brunt, who took 3 important wickets in bowling. At the same time, when it came to chasing down the target, despite getting off to a cautious start, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team easily chased down the modest total set by the Deepti Sharma-led side. The inaugural champions only managed to score 33 runs in the first six overs after losing opening batter Yastika Bhatia (0 runs) in the Powerplay, as UP's bowlers made them work hard for each run. But the duo of Nat Sciver-Brunt (75 *runs) and Hayley Matthews (59 runs) took over the chase once they found a steady rhythm. Their side won easily thanks to the pair's commanding 133-run partnership for the second wicket. 

Mumbai Indians at the top of the points table

By defeating the Gujarat Giants in yesterday's match, Delhi Capitals secured the first position in the points table of WPL 2025. At the same time, now Mumbai Indians also have 6 points and due to being in a better position than Delhi in terms of net run-rate, MI has become the top ranked team in the points table. UP Warriorz, on the other hand, have dropped down to the fifth position.
