New Zealand pacer Matt Henry ruled out of Pakistan, India ODI series: New Zealand pacer Matt Henry has been ruled out of the forthcoming ODI series against Pakistan and the subsequent tour of India owing to an abdominal strain. The speedster suffered the injury during the second test against Pakistan in Karachi, which resulted in a draw a night ago.

The Kiwi cricket board confirmed the development that Matt Henry will return back to New Zealand along with the members of the test side. He suffered abdominal strain during the final session of day 5 of the second test between New Zealand and Pakistan.

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) cricket board will soon announce the replacement of the pacer for the ODI leg against Pakistan and India.

?Matt Henry will return home with other members of the Test Squad not taking part in the ODI Series against Pakistan after suffering an abdominal strain on Day 5 of the 2nd Test in Karachi. A replacement in the ODI Squad to face Pakistan and India will be confirmed soon," wrote New Zealand Cricket (NZC) in a tweet.

Gary Stead, New Zealand coach, also confirmed the same and said: "It was a pretty gutsy effort, really, but he will be withdrawn from the ODI side.?

Notably, the three-match ODI series between Pakistan and New Zealand will begin on January 9 at National Stadium, Karachi. The other two 50-over games will be held on January 11 and 13 respectively.

Meanwhile, New Zealand's India tour in 2023 will begin on January 18 with the three-game ODI series. Following the completion of the 50-over series, the two sides will play out three-match T20I series.

New Zealand ODI squad for Pakistan series: Kane Williamson (c), Finn Allen, Tom Latham, Devon Conway, Michael Bracewell, Lockie Ferguson, Henry Nicholls, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner, Glenn Phillips, Henry Shipley, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi, Blair Tickner.
