New Zealand vs Australia: After defeating Mitchell Santner-led New Zealand in a last-ball thriller first T20i match at Wellington?s Sky Stadium on Wednesday, February 21st, Mitchell Marsh-led Australia will be aiming to win the second T20 International and seal the three-match T20i series against the Kiwis on Friday, February 23rd. The second T20i between the two Trans-Tasman rivals is set to take place at Auckland?s Eden Park Stadium. The match will commence at 11:40 am IST.
In the previous match, the duo of Rachin Ravindra (68 runs in 35 balls) and Devon Conway (63 runs in 36 balls) scored a brilliant half-century for the hosts, but their efforts went in vain thanks to the heroics of Aussie Skipper Mitchell Marsh (72* runs in 44 balls) and Tim David (31 runs in 10 balls). Their heroics helped the Kangaroos chase down a total of 216 runs on the final delivery of the first T20i. David in particular was at his brutal best in the death over as he hammered a four and multiple sixes on the last three balls of the 19th over, and then he hit a six, two runs, and a four on the final three deliveries of the 20th over to seal the win for the Australian team.
The Mumbai Indians batter would like to come up with another good performance on Friday in the second T20i against New Zealand and help the Aussies seal the three-match T20i series. On the other hand, the second T20i is a must win match for the Kiwis if they want to stay alive in the series. After a poor bowling display in the first T20i, the bowling unit of the hosts, led by Tim Southee, would be looking to keep the Aussie batters quiet and help their side level the series 1-1.
