New Zealand vs Pakistan: Kyle Jamieson fined for breaching ICC Code of Conduct.
New Zealand vs Pakistan: Kiwi pacer Kyle Jamieson has been found guilty for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct on the third day of the first test match against Pakistan at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui.
Jamieson was fined a 25% match fee for committing the offense of throwing the ball towards opposition batsman Faheem Ashraf inappropriately.
Article 2.9 of ICC Code of Conduct:
The 25-years old New Zealand pacer was seen breaching Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel. Jamieson later accepted his offense and accepted the fine imposed by the match referee Jeff Crowe.
Along with the 25% match fee, one demerit points has also been added to the disciplinary record of the pacer. It was the first breach for the pacer in the period of the last 24 months.
The ICC keeps track of the offenses done by the players. However, the accumulation of three or four demerit points within 24 months can sometimes lead to suspension or ban on the player.
The incident took place in 75th over of Pakistan?s first innings when the New Zealand speedster threw the ball towards the batsman Faheem Ashraf in his follow-through after collecting the ball while fielding. It was later noted that the batsman was inside the popping crease and was not intending to run.
Pakistan is right now 133 runs behind the victory with Fawad Alam completing his unbeaten century. The 5th day of play has been resumed and Pakistan is desperately walking to win the game against New Zealand. However, they have lost 5 wickets.
