No Rohit or Virat; Harsha Bhogle reveals Test Team of the Year; picks this Indian star as captain

Harsha Bhogle is famously known as the "Voice of cricket." He has always given blunt remarks in the betterment of cricket and is a respected commentator and journalist in the cricket world. The 63-year-old has come up with his test team of the year, what he thinks is the best set of the players or performers in 2024.
He has picked up several performers from different teams while some big names missed the feature in his team. His team has most players from England and India, with a count of three, and one each from Sri Lanka, South Africa, New Zealand, and Pakistan. Interestingly, he didn't pick any Australians in the squad.
Harsha Bhogle picks Jasprit Bumrah as the captain of his "Test Team of the Year 2024"
There have been many great individual performances throughout the year. Bhogle chose two dynamic left-handers to open the innings for his team. He picked up England's Ben Duckett, who has scored 1100 runs, and picked up Yashasvi Jaiswal as his partner. Jaiswal has been impressive in 2024.
The Indian opener has scored a total of 1332 runs in 27 innings at an excellent average of 52. He scored two double centuries as well. Jaiswal will be in action in the upcoming Boxing Day Test against Australia and can add more runs to his tally.
In an interaction with Cricbuzz, Bhogle said, "Yashasvi Jaiswal did everything that was asked of him as an opener, so he is my first pick in the Test Team of 2024. I have picked Ben Duckett because of the runs he has scored across the world." The 63-year-old picked Kane Williamson and Joe Root at nos. 3 and 4.
Williamson has scored 1013 runs at 59.58, while Root is the leading scorer in 2024. He has scored 1556 runs with six centuries and five half-centuries in 31 innings. Bhogle picked star English batters Harry Brook (1100 runs at 55). He also picked Sri Lanka's Kamindu Mendis at no. 6, who has scored 1049 runs at an incredible average of 75 with five hundreds.
For wicketkeeper, he chose Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan and picked Ravindra Jadeja at no. 8. Jadeja has 44 wickets and 500 runs in 11 Tests this year. Interestingly, he didn't pick any full-time captain to lead his side. He picked Jasprit Bumrah to lead his team. Bumrah has 62 wickets in 12 tests. The other bowlers are Gus Atkinson (52 wickets in 11 Tests) and Kagiso Rabada (32 wickets in 7 matches).
