PAK vs AFG 2023: Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by 59 runs in the 3rd ODI and became the No.1 Ranked ODI Team. Pakistan and Afghanistan were playing the third and last ODI match of this series at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, and they defeated Afghanistan by 59 runs.
Pakistan won the three matches ODI series against Afghanistan by 3-0, and they became the No.1 ranked ODI team in the ICC ODI Team ranking before the Asia Cup and World Cup 2023.
The Two main batsmen of Pakistan, Babar Azam and Mohd. Rizwan took the responsibility of the batting department and played a wonderful inning and scored 60 and 67 runs, respectively.
Shadab Khan took three wickets in this match, whereas Shaheen Shah Afridi got two wickets. Afghanistan's batting struggled one more time after the failure of the Top Order, which shows the dependence of Afghanistan's batting department on their top Order.
Mujeeb-ur-Rahman was the lone warrior for Afghanistan in the third ODI against Pakistan as he took one wicket and played a crucial knock of 64 runs with five sixes and fours. He has shown excellent intent and fought till the end to win the match, but unfortunately, they lost the game by 59 runs.
PAK vs AFG 3rd ODI 2023 Match Summary:
Pakistan won the toss in the 3rd ODI, and they decided to bat first; they had a decent start in the powerplay with a loss of only one wicket. Skipper Babar Azam and Wicket-Keeper Mohd. Rizwan made 110 runs for the 3rd wicket, and they led their team in a good position.
Babar scored 60 runs in 86 balls with four fours and one six, and Rizwan scored 67 runs in 79 balls with seven fours and one six. After they got out, Pakistan lost some wickets in bulk, but Salman Ali Agha and Mohd. Nawaz scored 38 and 30 runs, respectively.
They led Pakistan to score 268 runs on the scoreboard in 50 overs. From the Afghanistan Side, Fareed Ahmad and Gulbadin Naib took two wickets each, whereas Rashid Khan and Mujeeb-ur-Rahman got one wicket each.
Afghanistan didn't batted well in the Second Inning as they kept losing the wickets from one end. Riaz Khan and Shahidullah scored 34 and 37 runs, whereas Mujeeb contributed with 64 runs, but this wasn't enough to win the match.
From the Pakistan Side, Shadab Khan has taken three wickets, whereas Faheem Ashraf, Mohd. Nawaz and Shaheen Afridi took two wickets each. In the end, Afghanistan lost the series by 3-0 against Pakistan.
