Each match in the Super-4 stage is going to be crucial in order to book a ticket to the Asia Cup 2023 final and this was the first match of the stage where Bangladesh lacked in all departments. Pakistan were in full control of the game right from the second over.
Bangladesh won the toss and that was the only thing they won today! They opted to bat first and the decision shortly was proven wrong by Naseem Shah and 'the EAGLE' Shaheen Shah. The love affair between Shaheen and the new ball is well-known now and he got the aid off the surface.
Mahidy Hasan Miraz, who was the best Bangladeshi batsman in form, was sent back to the pavilion on the very first ball. Litton Das threw the bat a few times but fell to Shahen in the 5th over. Haris Rauf joined the party and took two scalps straight. Bangladesh were in big trouble at 47 for 4.
A handy 100-run partnership between skipper Shakib and Mushfiqur helped Bangladesh to recover a bit but Faheem Ashraf got rid of half-centurion Shakib. Mushfiqur kept his calm till Haris Rauf in the 38th-over executed an outstanding bowl to get Mushfiqur out of the ground at 190. The last 3 players of Bangladesh could only manage to add 3 runs to the score and Bangladesh set a 194-run target against Pakistan.
Bangladesh struggled to maintain possession of the ball with only 194 to defend. They persisted in bowling tight lengths, and their pacers were firm, but the pitch gave them almost nothing. The lean phase of Fakhar Zaman persisted, and Babar got a delivery that stayed low.
Imam continued his love affair with Lahore despite a few close LBW yells; he had already put down two hundreds and fifties at this location. With another 10 over remaining, Pakistan earned a straightforward victory thanks in significant part to Rizwan, who finished unbeaten on 63.
