Before the start of the 2024 T20 World Cup, disappointing news has emerged for the Pakistani team and fans. The Pakistani star wicketkeeper batsman, Azam Khan, known for his power hitting batting ability, has been ruled out of the ongoing five-match series against Pakistan and New Zealand.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), he has been advised to rest for 10 days. In fact, he suffered a Grade One tear in his right calf muscle during the practice session of the ongoing five-match T20 series against New Zealand.
Currently Azam Khan is in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) where the PCB medical team is keeping an eye on him.
Missing this series can prove to be very harmful for Azam. Because he is one of the strong contenders for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Before the T20 World Cup, Pakistan will tour Ireland and England. Pakistan will play a three-match T20 match against Ireland, while a four-match T20 series will be played against England.
Currently, Pakistan has taken a 1-0 lead in the ongoing five-match T20 series against New Zealand. The first match was canceled due to rain.
