Pakistani Cricketer Mohammad Rizwan makes history by becoming the fastest wicketkeeper to accomplish this remarkable-feat

Mohammad Rizwan: On the second day of the third Test-Match between Pakistan and England at the Cricket Stadium of Rawalpindi, wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan achieved a remarkable achievement, becoming the quickest Pakistani wicketkeeper to score 2000 runs in Test Cricket. The 32-year-old achieved this milestone in just 57 innings, breaking the previous record of 59 innings set by former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Rizwan, who is pretty famous for his exploits in limited-overs formats, has faced a lot of difficulties in securing a regular spot in the Test-Squad of the National Team. Going into the third Test-Match versus England, he needed just 16 more runs to reach the milestone

When he finally managed to cross the 2000 run mark, he did so in a smooth fashion, showcasing his usual composure in the middle.

The 32-year-old came into bat following the dismissal of skipper Shan Masood, who got dismissed by Shoaib Bashir after contributing 26 runs. Rizwan was quick in making his presence felt, smashing a huge six over the deep-mid-wicket region off the bowling of left-arm spinner Jack Leach. However, much to the dismay of the Pakistani fans, he didn’t last at crease for a long time.

England’s young leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed, who was included in the Starting XI for this match in order to strengthen the spin bowling unit, trapped Rizwan plumb in front of the stumps, ending his stay at crease as the 32-year-old departed after contributing 25 runs in 46 deliveries. His knock consisted of one maximum and a four.

Since making his Test-debut six eight years ago in 2016, Rizwan has taken part in 35 games, scoring 2,009 runs at a good average of 41.85. He has scored three centuries so far, with a best of 171* runs versus Bangladesh at the Cricket Stadium of Rawalpindi in August of this year.

Pakistan record a total of 344 runs in the 1st inning

On the second day of the third Test-Match between Pakistan and England, the Shaheens started things off nicely. However, they lost wickets at regular intervals, reaching a score of 344 runs, thanks to the superb century knock of Saud Shakeel (134 runs in 223 balls).

In reply, the tourists got off to a horrible start as they lost three wickets in quick-succession. At the end of the second Day, the Ben Stokes-led team are sitting at a score of 24/3.
