PBKS vs RCB: RCB beat Punjab by 7 wickets, Kohli scored a strong half-century
After losing to the Punjab Kings (PBKS) a few nights ago, the Royal Challengers have successfully exacted retribution on the team.RCB wins their fifth game of the season away from home, while Punjab Kings loses for the third time.
Even after losing Phil Salt in the opening over, the visitors had an easy chase thanks to the excellent setup provided by the RCB bowlers in the first innings. With a brilliant stand of 103 runs for the second wicket, Virat Kohli and Padikkal ended the chase.
As chase-master Kohli stayed undefeated at 73, recording a record-breaking 67th IPL fifty, Devdutt made an impression with a blazing knock of 61, leading the side to victory.
Although the Punjab Kings had an incredible start to the season, we are now beginning to see some of their shortcomings. Although they didn't have a high score, they did take a wicket in the opening over.
However, Bengaluru won most of the middle phase and the Powerplay after that, failing to take any wickets. In the last moments of the chase, they did manage to snag a couple more, but the Kings had already lost this game.
Rajat Patidar chose to bowl first earlier in the match, and Shreyas Iyer would have done the same. PBKS had one of its best batsmanships at this venue and got off to a fast start. But as the Powerplay ended and the slower bowlers took control, Punjab lost a lot of wickets and, despite having a few set batsmen at the end, they were unable to accelerate.
The RCB bowling unit were the main highlight of the match. After Krunal Pandya dismissed both openers, they managed to squeeze, and at the end, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood also hit yorkers for fun.
