Predicted top 4 semi-finalists of the T20 World Cup 2021.
T20 World Cup 2021: The all-important ICC T20 World Cup 2021 is over the halfway mark and still we have not got our prominent semi-finalists teams. Each Super12 team have completed at least four of their group stage matches while Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have played all five of their group stage matches and are knocked out of the tournament.
The points table with each passing day gets tricky as the teams put themselves in crunch situations. Before the start of the T20 World Cup 2021, the experts reckoned Group 1 as the Group of death while Group 2 seemed fairly easy for either India, Pakistan or New Zealand to qualify for the semis, however, everything has gone opposite of that.
Group 2 which just had three powerhouse cricket teams are now entangled in a wire for the semi-final qualification scenario. On the other hand, there seems to be no movement whatsoever in the entire group 1.
As of now, Pakistan, from Group 2, has cleanly qualified for the top four while the three teams are still on their way.
Also, it is important to note that Sri Lanka, West Indies and Bangladesh from Group 1 and Namibia and Scotland from group 2 are already knocked out of the tournament due to a poor win to loss ratio.
This very article will try to predict the top 4 semi-finalists of the T20 World Cup 2021.
Predicted top 4 semi-finalists of the T20 World Cup 2021:
Pakistan: Babar Azam and Co. did an outstanding job to seal their place in the T20 World Cup 2021 semi-finals by winning back to back matches. Pakistan played an all-rounder cricket to thrash the top sides of group 2 and is comfortably sitting at the top of the group. They are already qualified for the semi-finals.
New Zealand: The Kiwis are predicted to be the second semi-finalists from Group 2 as they hold an upper hand against Afghanistan in T20 World Cup matches. In the two matches between New Zealand and Afghanistan in the T20 World Cups, New Zealand comprehensively thrashed the Afghans to seal both the matches.
Moreover, Kane Williamson and co have played a good brand of cricket after their first loss against Pakistan. They defeated India and subsequently went on to hammer Scotland and Namibia.
Several experts and analysts say that New Zealand will come up as triumphant as they are a more experienced and equipped side than Afghanistan. However, the rest remains to be seen on the matchday i.e., November 7. If New Zealand beats Afghanistan, the kiwis will be the second semi-finalist team from group 2 or if New Zealand loses against Afghanistan, either India or Afghanistan can go up as the second finalist from group 2.
As I write this article, my hopes go with India to take up the semi-final spot.
England: The Englishmen are on the top of Group 1 with four wins from four matches. The three lions defeated defending champion West Indies to begin the T20 World Cup 2021 campaign and then crushed Bangladesh, Australia and Sri Lanka on the trot to become the favourite to win a semi-final spot.
Eoin Morgan-led England has been exposed to both situations, having been forced to bat first and bowl first. In both circumstances, they lead their side to the victory and are clearly expected to go on to win the semi-final place in their next assignment against South Africa.
Australia: The Aussies are foreseen to pip South Africa from the semi-final race and take up a place for themselves. Though they lost to England in their third match, Australia successfully managed to defeat Sri Lanka, South Africa and Bangladesh.
Aaron Finch and co are scheduled to play their final match against underperforming West Indies on November 6. The former side is more equipped to pose a serious threat to the Caribbean and win the match.
