India batter Prithvi Shaw was left dejected after the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) didn't name him in the squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. He launched a subtle attack on selectors for his omission as he reacted on his social media account.
Mumbai Cricket Association has announced the squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. What caught the attention of many was young batter Prithvi Shaw was dropped as his name didn't feature in the 17-member strong squad for the tournament.
Prithvi Shaw has been having a rough time in his career. He was recently dropped from the Mumbai squad in the Ranji Trophy but was given a chance to redeem himself as he was included in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 squad.
However, Prithvi Shaw failed to set the stage on fire in the tournament. Although he played some impactful knocks it wasn't enough. He amassed 197 runs at an average of 21.88, with the best of 49 runs which came against Vidarbha in the quarterfinal.
Not many expected Prithvi Shaw to be dropped from the Vijay Hazare Trophy squad but the thing got real. His omission comes as a massive surprise as the batter has a great record in List-A Cricket, averaging over 55, which speaks a lot about his calibre as a player.
As he wasn't included in the Mumbai squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25, the batter made sure that he voiced himself. He took to his Instagram account as he highlighted his record in the 50-over cricket.
Tell me, God, what more do I have to see - Prithvi Shaw
Prithvi Shaw stressed that he has scored 3,399 runs from 65 innings at an average of 55.7, saying that getting dropped after such numbers makes him think what he needs to see more. He also expressed faith in God and claimed that he would be making a comeback. Taking to his Instagram account, he explained:
"Tell me, God, what more do I have to see. if 65 innings, 3399 runs at an average of 55.7 with a strike rate of 126, I'm not good enough..but I will keep my faith in you and hopefully people believe in me still.. cause I will come back for sure..OM SAI RAM.."
