PSL 2025: Updated Points Table ahead of Karachi Kings vs Lahore Qalandars
Islamabad United (IU) surged to the top of the HBL Pakistan Super League (2025) overall standings with two comfortable wins, while Peshawar Zalmi (PZ) face early pressure after getting off to a horrendous start in the tournament which has left them without a single win at the bottom of the points table.
The 10th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) commenced with the Islamabad-based team setting the tone in the opening fixture, easily overcoming reigning champions Lahore Qalandars (LQ).
The bowling unit of Islamabad, led by experienced leggie Shadab Khan, ensured the Qalandars' batting unit went through a torrid time and helped their team secure the two points.
The second match of the tournament witnessed the Quetta Gladiators (QG) dominate the Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi (PZ) in what proved to be a one-sided affair. Batting first, the Gladiators posted a monstrous score of 216 runs on the board thanks to the 106 run innings by Sahibzada Farhan.
In reply, Peshawar only managed to score just 136 runs before getting bundled out in the sixteenth over. This defeat marked a difficult beginning to the campaign of the 2017 winners.
David Warner's Karachi Kings played their first match of the competition in the third contest, where they squared off versus the Multan Sultans (MS) and secured a narrow win.
Supported by strong performances from their top order, the Karachi-based team were able to chase down the Sultans' massive 234-run total. David Warner's team made a big splash with the victory, introducing the new-look Kings to the HBL PSL 10 stage.
The Quetta Gladiators (QG) were soundly defeated by Lahore Qalandars (LQ)in the fourth game. The team led by Shaheen Afridi performed well in every area, with Fakhar Zaman providing a steady hand at the top of the order.
With one victory and one defeat, the outcome placed both sides on level terms.
Shadab Khan-led Islamabad United (IU) returned to action in the fifth game of the tournament, moving past the Peshawar Zalmi (PZ) with ease and registered their second victory of the season.
Yet again, the top order of United performed in a fluent manner and their bowlers bowled tight lines to provide a major boost to the team's Net Run Rate (NRR) to +3.248.
Talented batter Sahibzada Farhan, a key addition to the squad of Peshawar this season, made an immediate impact with the bat as he slammed his fourth t20 century and helped his side get off to a brilliant start.
The Islamabad-based side have taken early control of the tournament as the PSL enters its second week, and Peshawar Zalmi (PZ) will be itching to change the tide. The standings are still open because the Lahore Qalandars (LQ) , Karachi Kings (KRK), and Multan Sultans (MS) have all displayed glimpses of form.
