Vivo IPL 2021: The English recruit of Rajasthan Royals (RR), Jos Buttler has withdrawn his name from the second phase of the Vivo IPL 2021. The wicketkeeper-batsman won’t be available for the remaining matches as he and Louise Buttler, Jos’s wife, are expecting their second child.
“Jos Buttler will not be part of the remainder of #IPL2021, as he and Louise are expecting a second child soon. We wish them well, and can’t wait for the newest member of the #RoyalsFamily,” the franchise tweeted.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) have added Glenn Phillips as the replacement of Jos Buttler for the remainder of the IPL season.

Phillips, playing for Welsh Fire in the ‘The Hundred’ competition, has been performing outstandingly well for his team. The cricketer is the fourth-highest run-scorer in the tournament with 214 runs in eight innings. He smacked a match-winning 80 in the recent match against London Spirit and won the ‘Player of the Match’ award.
Although the franchise has added a replacement, the absence of Jos Buttler will be a worrying sign for the inaugural champions of the IPL.
To add more woes, earlier, all-rounder Ben Stokes and pacer Jofra Archer were also unavailable for the tournament forcing the franchise to opt for the substitutes.
Archer is still unavailable for the tournament, as he has been ruled out by ECB for an entire year due to elbow injury while the participation of Ben Stokes is still under clouds.
Sanju Samson led Rajasthan Royals (RR) had a mixed season in the first seven matches of the IPL 2021. The franchise managed to fetch three wins out of seven matches they played.
