Over the years, the elite Indian Premier League has laid down a smooth way for Indian players to seal their international ticket for India. Several young players got national calls owing to their brilliant record in the IPL. There are numerous stories of players getting recognition after being successful in the IPL. Rajasthan Royals pacer Chetan Sakariya is one such player who has worked hard to get his place in the IPL and following which he received his national calls.
The 23-years old pacer recently got his ODI and T20I cap in the tour of Sri Lanka. He returned with decent numbers on his debut against the island nation. Having donned the ODI and T20I jerseys for India in a few matches, Sakariya?s long term goal is to don Indian whites and play 100 matches there.
?I want to play 100 Test matches for my country. Because, as a cricketer, the biggest feat is to be a Test cricketer. If you play one match or many matches, it?s a big achievement to become a Test player in cricketing circles. So I want to play 100 Test matches for my country,? he said during the Q&A session on social media.
The pacer was brilliant in the first half of the IPL 2021. He picked up seven wickets in as many matches for RR. The skipper of Rajasthan Royals, Sanju Samson, bowled him in tough situations after his premier pacers were ruled out and Sakariya delivered most of the time. His variations during the death overs were the main highlights of his outing in the first half.

The 23-years old has also praised Sanju Samson, his IPL skipper, for giving him and other youngsters ample opportunities to express themselves on the field. Sakariya lauded Samson for his supporting nature.
?I?ll say Sanju (Samson) is a captain who supports youngsters a lot. Sanju doesn?t let extra pressure come to you. Like when I made my debut, there was a lot of pressure on me. But he took that pressure on himself and told me to bowl freely,? Sakariya further added.
The young pacer is currently in the UAE with his franchise for the second leg of the IPL 2021. He will be looking forward to improving his wickets tally in the next seven matches.?
