Rashid Khan appointed as Afghanistan?s T20I skipper.

Afghanistan?s experienced spinner Rashid Khan has been given the captaincy of Afghanistan's T20I side by the country's cricket board on Tuesday. The step was taken by keeping the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 which is slated to be held in the UAE and Oman from October 17.

Najibullah Zadran, the southpaw, has been appointed as his shortest format deputy.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) in a statement said that the spinner is experienced and he has been opted for the role considering his leadership skills and consistent performances.

?All-rounder Rashid Khan has been appointed the T20I skipper of Team Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Najibullah Zadran has been appointed National Team?s Vice Captain for the shortest format,? said Afghanistan Cricket Board in a statement.

"Rashid was selected by senior ACB leadership led by ACB Chairman Farhan Yousefzai, for the role considering his experience, brilliant performance as well as leadership skills with the National team over the years," it added.

The cricketer thanked the authorities and officials to honour him with the leading role and tweets about the same.

It is noteworthy that the spinner had earlier rejected the captaincy roles citing his services are more valuable as a player than as a captain.

Afghanistan cricket board (ACB) has also replaced Afghanistan?s ODI and Test skipper Asghar Afghan and appointed Hashmatullah Shahidi for the roles in ODI and Test format.
