RCB became the first team to beat MI-CSK-KKR in a season after 13 years, know why Bengaluru is the favorite to win the IPL this time
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), who have not lifted the IPL trophy since the tournament's inception in 2008, continues to perform well this season. They defeated the Mumbai Indians (MI) by 12 runs in the 20th match of IPL. The most special thing in this is that RCB defeated the Hardik Pandya-led side at their home i.e at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
They have managed to achieve this feat after a long gap of 10 years. Earlier, Bengaluru won at the Wankhede ground in the year 2015. Not only this, RCB has also become the first team to defeat big teams like MI, CSK and KKR in a season after 13 years.

The Rajat Patidar-led side has played four matches so far this season and has won three. These three victories have come against the big teams playing in the IPL in their home grounds. RCB has defeated Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai), M.A Chidambaram Stadium (Chennai) and the Eden Gardens (Kolkata).
RCB has also made a record with this. It has become the first team to defeat these three teams in a season. Earlier, this feat was achieved by Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the year 2012.

The Bengaluru-based team got spectacular victories in the first two matches. However, they suffered a defeat versus the Gujarat Titans (GT) at home. But, in the fourth match, they defeated Mumbai Indians at their home.
With this victory, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has reached the top-4 in the points table. With three wins and one loss in four matches, they are at the third position in the points table. Their net run rate is also positive.
Patidar is doing amazing captaincy
This time RCB is playing under the leadership of new captain Rajat Patidar. Captain Rajat Patidar has also emerged as a strong link in the middle order for RCB as a batsman. Patidar has become the first captain in IPL 2025 to receive the Player of the Match award twice for his brilliant batting.
He is among the top-10 batsmen of IPL 2025. The 31-year-old has scored 161 runs in 4 matches. 64 runs has been his best score and he has also hit 16 fours and 8 sixes. During this, he has batted at an average of 40.25 and a fast strike rate of 175.
Virat and Rajat are the strong pillars of RCB
Above him in the Orange Cap race is run machine Virat Kohli with 164 runs in 4 matches. Patidar is in seventh place. Virat is in sixth place in the Orange Cap race. Virat, another important top order batsman of RCB, has the highest score of 67 runs this season and so far 15 fours and six sixes have come from his bat. Virat and Rajat Patidar have also scored two half centuries in the season.
