RCB vs CSK is all set to be the biggest clash for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. This is because the qualification for the playoffs is at stake and both the teams have an equal chance to grab the 4th spot in the playoffs and join Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
RCB vs CSK will be taking place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday (18th May). Both the teams have played magnificent brand of cricket and would be keen to take the spot in the playoffs for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
Chennai Super Kings will have to just win the game to qualify for the playoffs. On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bengaluru will need to chase the target inside 18 overs to win the game by 18 runs to make it into the business end of the tournament.?
There are chances that RCB vs CSK game is likely to be marred by the rain. The weather in Bengaluru hasn?t been great for the past few days and there is even a prediction for the rain during the game time at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
This has made many wonder about the qualification scenario of RCB if the game against CSK will be a rain-curtailed game. If the RCB vs CSK game ends in a washout then Chennai Super Kings will be advancing to the playoffs because they will be ending up with 15 points.
However, if it?s a 15-over match and RCB ends up scoring 190, they need to restrict the opposition to 172. Even in the case of CSK scoring 190, they will have to chase the target in 13.1 overs. If it?s a 10-over game and RCB scores 140, they need to restrict CSK to 122 or chase the target in 8.1 overs.
Here?s the RCB qualification scenario in a rain-curtailed match (approx 1st innings score):
15 overs match - (190) restrict to 172 or chase in 13.1 overs.
10 overs match - (140) restrict to 122 or chase in 8.1 overs.
5 overs match - (90) restrict to 72 or chase in 3.1 overs.
