Rohit Sharma fined INR 24 Lakhs for maintaining slow over-rate against PBKS in IPL 2022: Mumbai Indians (MI) commander Rohit Sharma has been slapped with a fine of INR 24 Lakhs by the Indian Premier League (IPL) officials for maintaining a slow over-rate during his side?s last night clash against Punjab Kings in the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) International Stadium, Pune.?
Rohit Sharma couldn?t lead his team to their first win as they continued their losing streak which gets stretched to five consecutive losses in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. Punjab Kings (PBKS) drubbed Mumbai Indians by 12 runs in the MCA Pune.
The setback of not winning the match against PBKS was followed by another disappointment of getting fined for not maintaining a required over rate. As this was Mumbai Indians? second offence in the Tata IPL 2022, the skipper was fined INR 24 Lakhs, while the rest of the Mumbai playing XI was penalised with INR 6 lakhs or 25 per cent of their match fee (whichever is lower).
?The Mumbai Indians have been fined after they maintained a slow over-rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match against Punjab Kings at the MCA Stadium, Pune on April 13,? said the official release from IPL.
?This was the team?s second offence of the season under the IPL?s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences. Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma was fined Rs 24 lakhs and the rest of the members in the playing eleven were fined Rs 6 lakhs or 25 percent of their match fee, whichever is lower,? it added.
Rohit Sharma was earlier fined INR 12 Lakhs for not maintaining the minimum over-rate against Delhi Capitals.
Notably, if Rohit Sharma gets caught in another minimum over-rate offence in the Tata IPL 2022, then he may have to face a match ban along with a penalty of INR 30 Lakhs. The Mumbai Indians playing XI will also be penalised accordingly.

We haven?t been playing good cricket: Rohit Sharma
The horrible run of Mumbai Indians continued as they bowed down against Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 12 runs.
Sharma reckons that the Men in Blue and Gold haven?t played good cricket in the IPL and that?s the reason for their suffering.
?We?ve been not playing good cricket for a while and that?s why we?ve been on the losing side, simple as that. The Kings batted pretty well upfront and put pressure on our bowlers, got a 90-100 run partnership to begin with. But I thought 190+ was chaseable on that pitch because that pitch was really good to bat on as you saw when we were batting as well. We just have to go back and see what we do as a team.?
