In what has been the latest development as per the reports in Dainik Jagran, it is learned that Rohit Sharma is all set to play his last international game during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The skipper no longer seems to be in plans for the future.

The BCCI review meeting, which took place recently in Mumbai, saw some harsh discussions between the officials along with selector Ajit Agarkar, head coach Gautam Gambhir and skipper Rohit Sharma. The future of the team was the major talking point, and the place of the captain, too, was discussed.

Rohit Sharma agreed to lead the team till the BCCI finds a suitable successor for him. The India captain has been asked to continue in the role till the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as BCCI doesn't want to disrupt the team heading into the big tournament like CT.

The reports in Dainik Jagran claimed that Rohit Sharma doesn't seem to be in the plans of selectors for Test cricket anymore now, and this will take a toll on his white-ball career as well. Hence, he has been asked the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be his last assignment in international cricket.

Jasprit Bumrah will be taking over the captaincy of the team in the ODIs and Tests

The reports claimed that Jasprit Bumrah will be taking over the captaincy of the team in the ODIs and Tests, and there will also be a strong vice-captain as well. This is because if the pacer gets rested for workload management, then the vice-captain should take over, just like how things pan out in Australian cricket.

A source close to BCCI talked about the possibility of Rohit Sharma going to England for a Test series. He said "the possibility of Rohit going to England for five test matches is very less."

When Rohit Sharma opted out of the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney he said: "I'm not going anywhere." But after the review meeting of the BCCI, things seem to be pretty tough for him. All will depend on how he will be performing in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
