Riding on the winning tide, Durban Super Giants sealed another victory as they defeated Pretoria Capitals by 8 runs and further consolidated their top-of-the-table finish in the SA20 2024 Points Table.
With Durban Super Giants (DSG) already qualified for the SA20 2024 Playoffs, the team only needed to extend their winning momentum. Captain Keshav Maharaj, despite underutilising his main bowlers, won the contest quite comfortably.
DSG, earlier, won the toss and opted to bat first at the Kingsmed. The side managed to put up a total of 174 runs, which was deemed a competitive score. Opener Matthew Breetzke played a fine knock of 73 runs in just 46 deliveries to take his side to a decent total. The player struck 10 fours and 3 sixes in his innings.
Barring Breetzke's innings, the Durban Super Giants didn't record any other massive innings, but there were handy contributions. The likes of Klaasen played 18-ball 30-run knock, Smuts scored 21 runs while Naveen ul Haq scored 10 runs in just 3 deliveries.
For Pretoria Capitals, Daryn Dupavillon and Senuran Muthusamy scalped three wickets apiece while one wicket each went to Will Jacks, Wayne Parnell and Adil Rashid.
In pursuit of 174 runs total, Pretoria Capitals couldn't produce any strong partnership throughout their innings. At the end of 20 overs, Pretoria Capitals found themselves 8 runs short of the target and lost the fixture.
