The Indian Cricket Team, under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav secured an easy 150 run win in the fifth and the final T20 International match at the iconic Wankhede Stadium of Mumbai and this victory allowed the 2024 T20 World Cup winners to win the five-match series by margin of 4-1. While winning the series is a good news for the Men in Blue, not everything is good as a key player of the team suffered an injury in the final encounter of the series.

Wicketkeeper batsman and opening batter Sanju Samson got injured off the bowling of Jofra Archer as his delivery hit the index finger of the 30-year-old and due to this, he has suffered a fracture. This was the reason why Dhruv Jurel was seen handling the wicketkeeping duties in the fifth T20 International in Mumbai.

Following the xray scans, it has been confirmed that Sanju will be out of action for a minimum of one month and this is not good news for Team India and Rajasthan Royals, the IPL franchise of the wicketkeeper batter.

Samson is set to miss the Ranji Trophy

The 30-year-old will now go to the NCA in Bengaluru in order to begin his rehabilitation process and he won't start training before his rehab ends. In order to return to the Cricket field, the Rajasthan Royals skipper will need the green signal of the NCA.

He plays Domestic Cricket for Kerala and they are currently scheduled to play in the quarter-final round of the Ranji Trophy versus Jammu & Kashmir between 8th of February to the 12th of February. The all-important Final of the tournament is set to commence from the 26th of February and will be played till the 2nd of March.

Since Samson will be out for a period of one month, he will miss the quarter-final match versus J&K and if Kerala manages to successfully qualify for the Final, then he will miss that Trophy-deciding clash as well.

His chances of making a comeback in the IPL are high

Sanju Samson is not a part of Team India's squad for the forthcoming Champions Trophy 2025 tournament and in such a situation, his comeback will straight away take place in the IPL. According to an anonymous source of the BCCI, the 30-year-old will at least take five weeks to restart practicing in the nets due to his finger injury. That's why, his chances of featuring in the Ranji Trophy Quarter Finals are looking very bleak. It's almost certain that he will return to the Cricketing field directly in IPL 2025.

Samson's performance in the England T20i series was not good

Sanju Samson failed to perform well in the five-match T20 International series versus England, managing to score just 51 runs with the bat in the entire series. His batting performance disappointed a lot of Indian fans as the trio of Saqib Mahmood, Jofra Archer and Mark Wood got the better of him easily with the help of the short pitched deliveries and the 30-year-old wasn't given the chance to stay at the crease beyond the powerplay overs.

The 30-year-old's performance with the bat in the upcoming 2025 edition of the IPL will be monitored closely and he will have to be at his best if he wants to stay in the T20i mix.
