Pakistan Cricket Team's elite left arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi on Wednesday, 13th of November, rose to the number one position of ICC's Men's One Day International (ODI) Bowling Rankings.
Afridi, who dismissed eight batters at a superb average of 12.62 in the Green Shirts' historic One Day International series victory over the Mighty Australians, made a jump of three spots from the 4th position to replace South Africa's slow left arm orthodox spinner Keshav Maharaj at the top of the rankings.
Maharaj has dropped by two places to the third place while Afghanistan's elite leg spinner Rashid Khan continues to hold the second place.
Shaheen has previously held the number one position in the past as well as he was sitting at the top of the bowling chart during the 2023 ODI Men's World Cup in India.
His fellow compatriot and bowling-partner Haris Rauf, who was adjudged as the Man-of-the-Series in Pakistan's 2-1 series victory over the Kangaroos, has seen improvements in his ODI ranking too, making a jump of 14 spots to the 13 position and this rank is his career's highest one in the 50 over format.
Naseem Shah's ranking saw improments as well, as he moved by 14 places to a joint 55th position.
Following the rise of Shaheen to the top of the rankings, Pakistan's dominance has increased as both the batting & bowling rankings are held by players of the Shaheens, with Babar Azam carrying on with his dominance at the top of the ODI batting rankings.
The 29-year-old increased his lead at the summit of the rankings from Indian Cricket Team's Trio of Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, thanks to the 80 runs he scored across the three ODI fixtures versus Australia, in which he got out on just a single occasion.
Mohammad Rizwan, the newly-appointed limited overs skipper of Pakistan, has also made gains in the ODI Rankings, jumping by 2 places to a joint 23rd position following the 74 runs he scored in three matches against the Aussies.
On the other hand, Afghanistan Cricket Team's premier spin bowling all-round Mohammad Nabi, who is set to retire from the 50-over format following the conclusion of the 2025 Champions Trophy, continues to dominate the ODI All-Rounder's rankings. The veteran is followed by Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe and fellow teammate Rashid Khan in the ranking chart.
