Shikhar Dhawan returns to cricket post-retirement, Set to feature in the Legends League Cricket

Indian legendary cricketer Shikhar Dhawan retired from all forms of cricket as he announced his international and domestic retirement last Saturday. On Monday, he announced his inclusion in the Legends League Cricket.

Shikhar Dhawan has had an immensely successful career playing for over a decade for the Men in Blue. He has featured in over 269 matches for India, having represented them across all three formats.

Dhawan has scored 12286 international runs playing for India, with most of his runs coming in the ODI format, for which he was considered a maestro alongside Rohit Sharma.

Most often referred to as India?s Mr. ICC, Shikhar Dhawan was known to be India?s most dependable performer in the ICC tournaments, which included the likes of World Cups, the Champions Trophy, and the T20 World Cup. Dhawan was India?s highest scorer with the bat in the Champions Trophy 2013 that India won under MS Dhoni.

Domestically as well, IPL has been a memorable competition for the left-handed batsman. Having started his career with the Delhi Daredevils in 2008, he next moved to Mumbai Indians in 2009, while he played first for the Deccan Chargers and then the franchise that replaced them, Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he gathered immense success batting alongside the Aussie veteran David Warner.

Dhawan later moved to the Delhi Capitals and then ended his IPL stint as the skipper of the Punjab Kings; both franchises received the best of Dhawan as he kept scoring as many runs till the final day of his career. After sustaining injuries in the last season, he has decided to opt out of the IPL.

In his vast career, Dhawan has scored 6769 runs, the second highest in the IPL only behind Virat Kohli. Now, having retired from the IPL and Indian cricket, he is available to feature across other global competitions. He will be back in action with the Legends Cricket League, which is scheduled to be played in September.
