India batter Shreyas Iyer has been in the news for the last few days. This is because of the massive revelation that he made after the first ODI against England, which took place at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.

Shreyas Iyer hit a sensational half-century in the first ODI and put pressure back on the England team. He was all over the bowlers as he played a counter-attacking innings and made sure that he took his team close to the target and eventually won the game as well. 

After that match, in a conversation with broadcasters, Shreyas Iyer accidentally revealed that he wasn't going to play the first ODI and only came into contention when Virat Kohli got injured and was ruled out of the first match due to a knee injury, which he faced on the eve of the game.

However, in the latest development, as per the reports in RevSportz, it is learned that Shreyas Iyer wasn't in contention to even be in the squad for the England ODIs and ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The reports added that some were not in favour of him being in the squad. 

This comes as a huge shocker, especially with the way he has played in the ODIs. The right-hander has solved the No.4 problem for India and has been consistent for the team. After his innings in the first ODI, he surely would've put all the talks to rest. He would be keen to make an impact in the next two games and help the team win.
