Should Mumbai Indians Regret Letting Go Of Ishan Kishan Form Team In IPL 2025 ?

Ishan Kishan was a team member of the Mumbai Indians since 2018, Sunrisers Hyderabad bought Ishan Kishan in the Indian Premier League 2025 auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The explosive batter Ishan Kishan was released by the MI in the 2-day auction,while franchise decided to keep Tilak Varma ahead of Ishan Kishan. Mumbai did little bid for Ishan in the auction, but didn't bus more than INR 3.20 crore. Now, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik has opened up on Ishan Kishan release.

Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad are also bid for Ishan Kishan, before he joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad in for a fee of Rs. 11.25 CR. With Ishan's departure, Mumbai Indians lost one of its core player, Ishan Kishan was a player who had been with the Mumbai side for 7 long years.

Captain Hardik Pandya in a video shared by the Mumbai Indians franchise on social media, and they admitted that the management knew that getting Ishan Kishan back in the team would be tough from the auction. 

"Ishan Kishan has been the 'freshness' and the 'energetic to the room. When we couldn't retain Ishan, and we always knew about that it is gonna to be very difficult to get Ishan Kishan back from the auction, simply because management knew that, the kind of player Ishan Kishan was and kind of skillset he brings with him. Ishan always used to be keep the dressing room's environment friendly, and has made a lot of people face smile," Captain Hardik said in the video which was on social media of the franchise.

That love and kindness, it came very naturally to Ishan Kishan, and. Ishan Kishan use to make the dressing room environment more playful. And he was Ishan who used to bring so much love to us (the Mumbai Indians team), that is something as a group we are definitely going to miss. He always be a Mumbai Indians pocket-dynamo. We're all gonna miss Ishan and we all love you(Ishan)," he added.

Ishan was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs. 15.25 crore in the IPL 2022 season and was retained by Mumbai Indians in the 2023 and the 2024 season. However, a bit of poor performance was saw from him being released by Mumbai Indians ahead of the 2025 auction.

With Sunrisers Hyderabad, however, at least on paper Ishan Kishan has found another franchise that is also being recognised as one of the in the league.
