Shubman Gill will have a great chance to go past Babar Azam in the ICC ODI Rankings during the second ODI against England. The match between the two heavyweights is all set to take place on Sunday (9th February) at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.

Shubman Gill, who is currently the No.3, ranked batter in the ICC ODI rankings, looked in great touch with the bat in the first match against England. The vice-captain of the India team played the match-winning knock and guided the Rohit Sharma-led side to the win in the match.

Shubman Gill played a match winning knock for India in first IND vs ENG ODI

Shubman Gill walked out to bat when India lost quick wickets. He soaked in all the pressure and made sure that he batted till the end to take his team home. The right-hander scored 87 runs off 96 balls and helped the side win the first ODI against England by 4 wickets.

Shubman Gill played with complete control and looked in great form. He batted at No.3 and in the absence of Virat Kohli, who missed the game due to injury, he stood tall and aced the chase. The batter would be keen to carry on the same form and help his team win the second match as well.

Shubman Gill's chance to become the No.1 ODI batter became even greater after Babar Azam failed in the first game of the tri-series against New Zealand. The Pakistan batter, who opened the innings for the team, scored just 10 runs off 23 balls, which saw his rating take a hit.

India captain Rohit Sharma also has a great chance to climb to the top of the ICC ODI rankings. The skipper is currently at No.2 in the ranks and needs to play a big knock in the second ODI against England. He failed in the first match, managing just 2 runs.
