Indian Cricket Team batter Shubman Gill is all set to become the next ODI captain of the team. As per the reports in RevSportz, it is learned that the young batter will be replacing Rohit Sharma as the skipper of the team after the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Shubman Gill was included in the Indian team leadership group after the T20 World Cup 2024. The young batter was appointed as the vice-captain of the team in the ODIs as well as the T20Is, and it is expected that he will perform the role of vice-captain in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
There have been several reports that claimed that the Indian team is all set to have a new captain after the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. It was learned that Rohit Sharma himself said that he would stay captain till the BCCI found the new captain and vowed that he would support the new captain.
Although Shubman Gill has been struggling with his form of late, the potential that he has and the ability that he has, he is touted as the future of Indian Cricket. He has also been leading the team in the IPL as well and will be captaining Gujarat Titans in the next season as well.
Shubman Gill being named as the next captain of India means it will be a massive step forward for the team. The transition peddle is all set to be pressed after the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with some big steps being taken along with the call on the future of young players.
The reports also claimed that Shubman Gill is all set to play in the second round of Ranji Trophy 2024-25. He will be playing for Punjab in the game against Karnatka, starting 23rd January.

While the wrist spinner is expected to be fit by 25th January, the fast bowler is all set to miss the league stage of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and might be available for the knockout stage of the tournament.
