Singhalese Sports Club Ground Pitch Report, Weather Forecast, T20 & ODI Records:?This Ground is also known as Maitland Place. It is one of the best cricket stadiums in Sri Lanka and is located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It was founded in 1952 and managed by Singhalese Sports Club.
The First Match was played at this venue, a test Match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand between 16-20 March 1984. The First ODI match at this ground was played between Sri Lanka and England on 13 February 1982.
The Stadium was rebuilt and renovated timely, and now it has world-class facilities with modern architecture. It had a Media Centre and Commentary Box.
This Stadium has hosted some historic cricket matches like the 1996 ICC cricket world cup and the ICC Champions Trophy 2002. Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene made a remarkable partnership of 624 runs in 2006 against South Africa, which is the highest Partnership at this venue.
The Sri Lankan team had played 60 ODI matches and won 23 out of them, whereas they had played only two T20 International matches and won none of them.
