Skipper Virat Kohli is available to play the ODI series against South Africa: In the recent row of development, it has been confirmed that Indian skipper Virat Kohli is available to play the three matches ODI series against South Africa, starting January 19. Many BCCI officials and sources have confirmed the participation of the cricketer after social media was filled with stories of Virat taking a break from the three matches series.
The brewed up stories claimed that the ODI series against South Africa coincides with Virat Kohli?s daughter?s first birthday and hence the cricketer wants a break to be with his family on the special occasion. Later it was stated that Kohli in January itself requested for the break.
Rubbishing all the claims, the BCCI officials said, "There is no truth in reports of Virat skipping the ODIs," said a top BCCI member, while informed sources have reiterated Kohli's commitment saying, "He is a totally committed cricketer and there is no doubt about his participation."
The reports circulated all around social media in wake of the recent turmoil in the ODI captaincy. Virat Kohli was reported to be unhappy with the abrupt decision from the BCCI. He wanted to hold the ODI captaincy while the BCCI opposed it and appointed Rohit Sharma as the new leader of white-ball cricket.

As of now, no statement has been released from Virat Kohli?s end about the captaincy change. The red ball captain will face media on Wednesday 15th December as the BCCI has organised a customary pre-tour media conference.
No clarity on Rohit Sharma?s ODI participation:
The new white-ball captain Rohit Sharma has been recently ruled out of the test match series against South Africa due to his hamstring injury. Sources say that the BCCI medical team is monitoring the injury and keeping a keen eye on the cricketer.
Rohit?s participation in the ODI series is highly under concern. There is uncertainty whether he will be able to discharge his role in the 50-overs matches or not.
