SL vs IRE: Sri Lanka achieves a massive feat in Tests; Becomes 8th team to win 100 games?

Sri Lanka cricket team over the years have produced some valiant efforts in the longest format of the game. Many greats have represented Sri Lanka and have made them a great force in international cricket. Of late they have struggled to get going with seasoned players retiring. But young players are stepping up and bringing the side back on track.

The Sri Lanka cricket team thumped Ireland by innings and 10 runs to complete a 2-0 whitewash in the series. Notably, they won the first game by an innings and 280 runs. With the win in the last match, the hosts achieved a massive feat. They became only the 8th international team to win 100 Tests.?

Asked to bowl first, a stabbing bowling performance by Prabath Jayasuriya, who took a five-wicket haul, helped Sri Lanka bundle out Ireland for 492 runs. But after that, it was a gigantic batting performance from their end.?

Nishan Madhushka (205) smashed a doubt century while opening while Kusal Mendis also tonked a double century, smashing 245 runs. Their double tons were complimented well by Dimuth Karunnaratne (115)  and Angelo Mathews (100*) as Sri Lanka posted massive 704 runs in their first innings. 

A resounding bowling performance on the back of a five-wicket haul by Ramesh Mendis saw Sri Lanka bowling out Ireland by massive innings and 10 runs to win the series 2-0. This was their 100th win in 311 Tests.

With the win against Ireland in the second Test, Sri Lanka became the 8th team to win 100 games. They joined the likes of Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa and West Indies.
