Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 Venues: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday announced the venues for the SMAT 2021 season. Gujarat?s Ahmedabad to host the knock out games while Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata are some of the other venues.
The recently reconstructed Sardar Patel Stadium also known as Motera Stadium will host the Knock out games of SMAT 2021 as reported by BCCI secretory Jay Shah.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah, sent a letter to the state associations, according to which, teams have been divided into six groups, five elite groups while one plate group. The latter also mentioned Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Indore, and Vadodra as the venues for the league games.
?BCCI will begin its domestic tour from 10th January with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2021,? Shah stated in the letter.
?All the participating teams are required to group in their allocated host cities on or before January 2, 2021, and have to undergo COVID-19 tests procedures and regulations in accordance with the state government,? Shah.
The plate group consists of eight teams and Chennai will host games of these teams while the other 30 teams have been divided into five elite groups with each group having five teams.
The knock out games have been scheduled to begin on January 26, quarter-finals are to be played on January 26 and 27. Progressing forward the two semi-finals will be held on 29th January while the Final will be played on 31st January at Ahmedabad.
The players will undergo three rounds of COVID-19 tests on the 2nd, 4th, and 6th January.
Stepping into the knockouts will also require players to undergo two other rounds of COVID-19 tests on January 20 and 22.

Elite Group A: Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Railways, Tripura (Venue- Bengaluru)
Elite Group B: Odisha, Bengal, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Hyderabad (Venue-Kolkata)
Elite Group C: Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Baroda, Uttarakhand (Venue- Vadodara)
Elite Group D: Services, Saurashtra, Vidarbha, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Goa (Venue- Indore)
Elite Group E: Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Mumbai, Kerala, Puducherry (Venue- Mumbai)
Plate Group: Chandigarh, Meghalaya, Bihar, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh (Venue ? Chennai).
