IND vs IRE Match Summary
The Nassau County International Stadium in New York was set to host the clash between India and Ireland. The fixture began with Rohit Sharma winning the toss and opting to field first.
Rohit Sharma's decision to bowl first was supported by his bowling unit, which bundled out the entire Ireland playing 11 for just 96 runs in 16 overs. The destruction began with Arshdeep Singh picking two wickets in his second over.
The opening was already made and the other bowlers quickly pounced on the opportunity. Ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah contributed with two wickets in three overs by conceding just 6 runs. Arshdeep Singh returned with two wickets in his four overs.
All-rounder Hardik Pandya, too, shone with the ball in hand as he scalped three wickets in his four overs. Meanwhile, Mohammad Siraj and Axar Patel got one wicket each as well.
Team India opened with a new combination of skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. However, it didn't yield a fruitful result as the latter was dismissed for a meagre score of 1 run by Mark Adair.
Rohit Sharma continued to play his innings alongside wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant. The two added 69 runs for the second wicket before Rohit Sharma (52 runs) walked off the field after completing his half-century. Rohit suffered a blow on his arm earlier during his innings.
Meanwhile, Pant was accompanied by Suryakumar Yadav, who was dismissed for 2 runs. To finish off the innings, Pant (36* runs) slammed a maximum and bagged an easy win for the team.
